EYEBROW HANGING

What changes can be seen in eyebrows over time?

Like other soft tissues in the face and our skin, our eyebrows sag over time due to the effects of gravity, aging, and the atrophy of the underlying soft tissues. This sagging can sometimes even obstruct the field of vision, giving a person a tired, aged, or weary expression. While this sagging is particularly noticeable at the outer corners of the eyebrows, it can sometimes be significantly felt in the inner and middle eyebrow areas as well.

WHO ARE WE?
WHO ARE WE?

I have been serving patients for over 25 years.

I graduated with honors from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine and completed my specialization in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Akdeniz University. I believe that surgical experience, the selection of the right technique, and personalized planning are crucial in hair restoration. A natural, anatomically appropriate hairline design and a tissue-respecting surgical approach that reduces the risk of complications are essential in hair transplantation. While aiming to reduce the psychological effects of hair loss in both men and women, I also strive to apply medical and scientific supportive treatments and share my experiences globally.

What is a thread brow lift?

It is a non-invasive method used to correct sagging eyebrows that create a tired facial expression. This procedure does not involve surgical incisions and leaves no stitch scars. In this method, the eyebrows are lifted upward from the outer corner and suspended beneath the skin to a point behind the hairline using a permanent suture material. The suture material used is not visible from the outside and cannot be noticed through the skin.

How long does the effect of a brow lift with threads last?

With aging, the sagging process continues in the eyebrows along with the soft tissues of the entire face. Therefore, the youthful facial appearance achieved with thread lifting cannot be preserved forever. Depending on external factors and the individual’s lifestyle, the effect may last between 2 and 5 years. The procedure can be repeated later if desired.

What will be the position of the eyebrows after the procedure?

Normally, when we lie on our back, the effect of gravity disappears and the eyebrows rise slightly, giving the face a generally younger expression. The goal during the procedure is to achieve this natural appearance with a slight elevation of the eyebrows.

Will I experience discomfort after the procedure?

Since the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, there is no need to stay in the hospital. The patient can go home the same day. Mild swelling, bruising, and pain may occur in the forehead area. These symptoms usually resolve on their own within 7–10 days.

When can normal life be resumed?

The patient can go home the same day and return to normal work life after 1–2 days of rest. A bandage placed above the eyebrows will be removed on the third day. After the procedure, an elastic bandage (similar to a tennis band) should be worn around the head for about 3 weeks to stabilize the new position of the eyebrows.

What are the possible complications of the procedure?

The most important complication is asymmetry of the eyebrows or failure to achieve the planned lift. In such cases, the suspension suture can be easily removed from beneath the skin under local anesthesia and the procedure can be repeated. In addition, complications that may occur in any aesthetic procedure (such as infection, temporary numbness, swelling, or bruising) may also rarely occur with this treatment.
